Roohi Choudhry is a writer, researcher and nomad based in Brooklyn. Her short stories have been published in Callaloo (2008), Desilicious (2004) and 21 Under 40 (2007). Her non-fiction has appeared in Hyphen Magazine, Bitch Magazine and Bookslut.com. She has served on the boards of the South Asian Women’s Creative Collective in New York City, and DesiLit, a national organization promoting South Asian literature. She volunteers for the New York Writers’ Coalition, leading a writing workshop at a women’s drug treatment residence in Bed-Stuy. She has been awarded residencies at Hedgebrook (2007) and the Mesa Refuge (2003) and is currently working on a novel set in Durban, South Africa.
